Outreach Committee Upcoming Plans

The Outreach Committee met Saturday, March 21st to discuss plans for upcoming events.  The Committee decided to combine the service projects for March and April since the March project is a larger undertaking.  Extending the project through April allows more time to gather items to assemble 60 goodie bags to disseminate the elderly residents of the Park Apartments as well as more funds to buy additional items for the project.  The bags will now be delivered Saturday, April 25th with items being collected through Sunday, April 19th. 

The Outreach Committee plans to combine the months of May and June.  The service project for June will be Sanctuary's participation in three Pride events: Portsmouth Pride, Adams County Pride, and First Capitol Pride (Ross Co, Ohio).  During the month of May, the Outreach Committee will hold one or two craft-making events in which congregants can help make items pass out at Pride.  Some of the items that have been discussed for potential projects include braided bracelets, beaded bracelets, banned book bookmarks featuring LGBTQ authors or titles, and little hearts.  More details about these events will be forthcoming.  In the meantime, please continue to bring in donations from the list of suggested items for the March/April project.
