Outreach Committee Extends Service Project Deadline

This month the Outreach Committee has endeavored to collect items from the congregation to make goodie bags to take to the residents of the Park Apartments.  However, there were not many services between the announcement of the project and the date originally planned for delivery of the bags - March 21st.  With low attendance at last week's service, not many items were donated.  Therefore, the Outreach Committee will be pushing back the delivery date of the bags.  Please continue to bring in items.  The Outreach Committee will be meeting this Saturday to plan future events for the spring and summer.  Details will be coming soon.  Please see the original story below for details about this month's service project. 

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, the Outreach Committee is currently collecting items for our March service project.  This month we are asking the congregation to donate cleaning supplies and personal care items to make Goodie Bags for the residents of the Park Apartments on Chillicothe Street.  The idea was suggested by a member of the Outreach Committee who pointed out that many of those living in the apartments were on fixed incomes and struggled financially, sometimes having to choose between food and cleaning supplies.  After speaking with those at the apartments, the committee member shared some requested items.  Committee chair Sara Tonko ordered reusable bags in which to put the items for each resident.  Currently, there are 100 bags waiting to be filled.  Sara also composed a flyer with a list of suggested items to donate.  The list is available on Sanctuary Community of Christ's webpage at scofchrist.org/outreach  

We hope to deliver these items to the residents on Saturday, March 21st.  All congregants are asked to participate by donating items and helping to deliver them.
