Recipe Corner:  Chili

The following is a simple chili recipe made from home-canned tomato products:

 

2 quart jars of home-canned tomato juice 

1 quart jar of medium or hot salsa made from garden fresh tomatoes and Mrs. Wage's salsa mix 

1 lb of ground turkey fried, drained, and rinsed 

1 can of light red kidney beans 

1 can of dark red kidney beans 

1 can of chili beans 

 

Fry the turkey in a skillet.  Remove from heat, rinse, and drain.  Combine all ingredients in a stockport and bring to a boil.  You can add other spices and chili powder if you prefer, but the salsa is often enough.  Taste your chili before adding other ingredients.  Allow the chili to simmer for at least 10 minutes.  Serve with crackers and enjoy.
