Sanctuary Community of Christ Bible Study:  A Thought-Provoking Experience

Next weekend March 15, 2026, Sanctuary will hold its monthly Bible Study. During Bible Study a few pieces of Scripture are used for comparison and analysis.  The congregation is very fortunate to have an expert in the field of comparative religion to lead our study remotely.  As a result of this expertise and well-planned service, Bible Study never fails to be an experience that leads the congregation through a thought-provoking, deep dive into Scripture.

Led by Dr. John-Charles Duffy, Assistant Professor of Comparative Religion at Miami University, the entire process affects curiosity and questions as congregants explore and compare bits of Scripture.  For instance, they might be asked to examine the similarities and differences between two pieces as well as the reasons these differences may exist.  Dr. Duffy asks open-ended questions, often with no right or wrong answers.  Worshipers divide into small groups to discuss their thoughts and then reconvene to share their insights.

Over the course of an hour, participants are asked to consider questions they may have never pondered before and are led through techniques to analyze the text more thoroughly than many have ever done.  Join us next Sunday, March 15th for this intriguing experience.  The service begins at 5:30 p.m. at 2730 Scioto Trail, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
