Sanctuary Applies for $9,000 in Grants; Decision from Walmart, Inc. Expected in Late April
Sanctuary Community of Christ is actively participating in the Spark Good program, a community giving initiative by Walmart that brings together a variety of ways for nonprofits, customers, and associates to support local causes. Spark Good empowers organizations to access local grants, fundraising tools, registry features, and community engagement opportunities designed to spark collective action and strengthen neighborhoods nationwide.
Through Spark Good, organizations can apply for local grants of up to several thousand dollars directly from individual Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities. These grants are intended to support programs that address specific community needs, including efforts like hunger relief and homelessness assistance. Applications are reviewed locally at the store level, and approval is based on how well a project aligns with community needs and Spark Good’s mission of strengthening local support systems.
Landen Puckett, who has experience in grant writing, has applied via Spark Good at multiple Walmart stores to seek funding that will help expand outreach efforts focused on hunger and homelessness support in our area. These grants will be vital towards Sanctuary’s ability to perform extensive humanitarian aid to those experiencing hunger and homelessness. Final decisions from the stores are pending, and we’re hopeful that these resources will enable us to deepen our impact where it’s needed most.
