Restructured Faith: A Different Kind of Service

This past week Sanctuary held its monthly Restructured Faith event.  Restructured Faith is a different kind of service entirely.  A few months ago, members of the congregation were asked to submit questions they had about the Bible.  Questions about Hell, women as preachers, the LGBTQ community, and many others were placed on note cards to be explored.  One question is addressed every third Sunday at our Restructured Faith service.   

During the service, the pastor Connie Altman begins by presenting the question and related scripture.  Then she explains what Community of Christ teaches about the topic.  Afterward, members of the congregation are given an opportunity to talk about what they were taught about the topic of growing up and how their beliefs may have changed over the years.  There are no right or wrong answers.  Instead, it is a time to share and reflect on our own beliefs. 

The next Restructured Faith will be held March 22nd when we explore the question: "Is the church really built on Peter?"
