Community Outreach Updates: Upcoming Food Distribution Day

As noted in the previous newsletter, this month the Outreach Committee organized a church food drive to gather items for donation to the six Blessing Boxes in the area.  Over a two week period, congregants were asked to bring in donations of non-perishable, easy-to-open food items.  These items were then sorted by Outreach Committee members for distribution to their prospective locations. 

This upcoming Saturday, February 28th, the team will be delivering those items to 6 Blessing Boxes throughout the community.  The idea behind the project is to provide easily accessible food to help those who are unhoused or otherwise experiencing food insecurity.   The Outreach Committee thanks the congregation for the support and generosity shown throughout this project.  

Next month the committee will be collecting items to assemble goody bags for distribution to the residents of the Park Apartments on Chillicothe Street.  Look for a list of suggested items to donate coming soon.  If anyone within the congregation has questions, they can email Sara Tomko at stomko@scofchrist.org or Donna Dietrich at ddietrich@scofchrist.org.
